08/02/2023 - More than 90 experts from Germany and abroad are expected at the gamescom congress on August 24, 2023. In exciting talks and panels in Cologne and online, they will show how multifaceted games and games technologies can enrich our world of tomorrow. The gamescom congress will take place for the 15th time as part of gamescom in Cologne.
From artificial intelligence and industrial applications to use in schools: Nowhere else is the potential of games for economic, technological and social progress shown as broadly as at the gamescom congress. In around 40 program points, the conference will present what games can do for education, science, business and culture, as well as for our social interaction.
The congress will be opened by Sarah Brin, Head of Product and Growth at "Kythera AI" from Edinburgh, Scotland. In her keynote address, "Can AI be Creative?", she will shed light on the creative potential of artificial intelligence. Afterwards, Sasha MacKinnon, CEO of Mino Games, from Montreal, will show how even smaller development teams can use artificial intelligence to better compete in the market. The presentation by Jon Radoff (Beamable) will also focus on the potential of artificial intelligence in game development.
What modern youth protection needs will be discussed at the USK's youth protection panel. The fact that complex gamification projects can also go wrong and which mistakes can be avoided will be explained by Sebastian Bender (Wolpertinger Games) in his "Gamification F***-Up Stories".
The political highlight at the end of the congress day is the "Debatt(l)e Royale". Here, top politicians will face the questions of the games community and take a stand on the most important topics of games and digital politics. On the podium: Franziska Giffey (SPD), Nathanael Liminski (CDU), Emily Büning (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) and Bijan Djir-Sarai (FDP).
