Wargaming's Steel Hunters now playable for free in Early Access

04/02/2025 - Steel Hunters, the new mech-hero shooter from Wargaming, is available in Early Access from today. Players worldwide can take up the fight on massive battlefields and experience dynamic mechanics such as Battle Royale and Extraction.
The free online game "Steel Hunters" from Wargaming has officially entered Early Access. From today, players worldwide have the opportunity to jump into the action via Steam or the Wargaming Game Center. The title combines the intense game modes of Battle Royale and Extraction and focuses on gigantic fighting machines - the so-called Hunters. Players can compete in dynamic duo PvPvE battles, complete tasks, collect rewards and continuously improve their equipment.
During Early Access, the development team is focusing on working with the community. Player feedback will help to test and further develop the game mechanics to create a balanced and optimal gaming experience. In addition to stability and performance improvements, new content and features are planned, which will be implemented in close consultation with the players.
Mike McDonald, Product Director, emphasizes the special importance of this phase: "The launch will take place without monetization in order to offer players an unadulterated gaming experience. It also marks the start of the game's first season, which should provide a good introduction and a fair basis for players. McDonald underlines the "player-first" philosophy and emphasizes the importance of co-creation throughout the Early Access phase.
Extensive Early Access content
Steel Hunters already offers a wide range of features and possibilities in the Early Access phase:
- Hunter variety: players can choose between seven different Hunters, all with unique abilities. Razorside, Heartbreaker, Fenris, Ursus, Trenchwalker, Prophet and Weaver are available from the start - more characters will be added as the phase progresses.
- Maps with destructible environments: The Crimson Ridge, Maryland Heights and Stonecutter Keep battlegrounds are locations with dynamic and interactive elements that reward strategic action.
- Revised Research Tree: Instead of a multi-level progression system, there is now a centralized skill tree that allows players to progressively upgrade.
- Permanent servers: From launch, progress is permanent. Players no longer have to worry about resetting their achievements and keep all achievements from Early Access and past test phases.
- Free Battle Pass: Until April 29, 2025, players can use the Battle Pass to evolve their Hunter, unlock rare skins and collect boosters, credits and other rewards.
Steel Hunters is fully localized and available in several languages, including German, making it directly accessible to the wider international community.
