PUBG celebrates 8 years with update 34.2: Anniversary features and adjustments

03/12/2025 - For the 8th anniversary of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Update 34.2 brings numerous new features, including festive decorations, improvements to Arcade Mode and a new Survivor Pass.
Festive decorations for the 8th anniversary
To celebrate the 8th anniversary of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, KRAFTON, Inc. has released update 34.2, which adds numerous festive elements to the game world. Players will find decorated care packages, energy drinks and a bannered take-off plane on various maps. There is also a bobble-bot statue on the starting island that can be pelted with golden grenades; when certain numbers of hits are reached, the players' names are displayed on a scoreboard. In addition, impressive fireworks light up the sky before the start of the jump phase.
On the Erangel map, the ferry has been transformed into the "8th Anniversary Party Ferry", and lookout towers are decorated with birthday cakes to celebrate the anniversary with teammates. Gift boxes hanging from balloons, themed lamp posts and containers can also be found on Erangel. However, these special gift boxes only appear in normal matches. Anniversary decorations such as billboards and digital screens have also been added to the Miramar, Sanhok, Vikendi and Rondo maps.
Background music by M83
For the 8th anniversary lobby music, PUBG partnered with French electronic music group M83, known for their atmospheric sound. This collaboration is intended to get players in the mood for the upcoming battles with an immersive soundtrack.
Improvements in arcade mode
Arcade mode has received significant improvements with update 34.2. Three new maps have been added to Team Deathmatch: Deston - Arena, Vikendi - Train Station and Sanhok - Camp Bravo. In addition, the probabilities for map selection have been adjusted accordingly, and destruction features have been integrated on the Sanhok maps. The equipment sets for submachine guns (SMGs) have also been revised: The amount of ammunition has been increased from 150 to 180, the secondary weapon is now the P92 instead of the Deagle and a laser sight has been added as an attachment.
In the "Intense Battle Royale" mode, only randomly selected maps are now played and the Sanhok maps also offer destruction features. The attachments for weapons from random weapon crates have been adjusted and a random LMG crate containing either an M249 or a DP-28 has been added. The red supply packs now contain attachments, and the maximum number of players in custom matches has been increased from 24 to 100.
Revised Aim Punch and other adjustments
Based on player feedback, the Aim Punch system in Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch 2 has been further refined. Screen movement has been reduced to minimize discomfort, and the aim-punch now decreases with increasing distance, which should provide a more realistic gaming experience. This test lab is available from March 12 to March 26 for PC players and from March 20 to April 3 for console players.
In addition, the interior lighting of the buildings on the Sanhok map has been improved to optimize visibility. Bots now act more naturally, while the difficulty level remains unchanged. In Ranked Mode, players can enable the "Same Language Team" option in squad matches to play with teammates of the same language as the squad leader. A new Survivor Pass is also available, offering more rewards and challenges.
