Monster Hunter Wilds and Microsoft Xbox dominate the Gamescom Awards 2024

08/23/2024 - The winners of the Gamescom Awards 2024 have been announced. Monster Hunter Wilds won in four categories, while Microsoft Xbox took home the Best of Show Floor Award. Other awards went to Little Nightmares 3 and Frostpunk 2.

The Gamescom Awards 2024 were presented on August 23 as part of Gamescom in Cologne. The best games and companies in the industry were honored in a total of 14 categories. The big winner of the evening was Monster Hunter Wilds by Capcom, which won awards in four categories.

Monster Hunter Wilds - The big winner

Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds dominated this year's Gamescom Awards. The action-packed hunting game was honored in the categories Most Epic, Most Entertaining and Best Sony PlayStation Game. In addition, the game's trailer impressed both the jury and the fans and received the award for Best Trailer/Announcement.

Little Nightmares 3 - success on several levels

Bandai Namco's Little Nightmares 3 was also able to impress and secured the awards in the Best Visuals and Best Audio categories. The atmospherically dense game was also awarded Best Microsoft Xbox Game.

Other highlights of the awards ceremony

Frostpunk 2 by 11bit Studios was honored for its outstanding gameplay, while Creatures of Ava won in the Games for Impact category and as Most Wholesome Game. Tavern Talk, developed by the German studio Gentle Troll, received the award for Most Wholesome Game.

The Best of Show Floor Award went to Microsoft Xbox, Bethesda and Blizzard for their impressive stand in Hall 7.

Special honors

The Gamescom Sustainability Award, which was presented on August 22 as part of the Opening Night Live, went to Tencent Games. The award recognizes the company's commitment to sustainability, in particular through transparent targets and regular progress reports.

The HEART OF GAMING Award, which honors special projects or initiatives every year, went to games that contribute to the preservation and promotion of democratic values in 2024. The jury emphasized how civil society actors and political institutions use video games to convey democratic principles.
