Uniliga: KIT SC White again German eSport University Champion

09/09/2022 - The duel of the Uniliga titans has been decided: The eSports record champion KIT SC White from Karlsruhe defeated its challenger "Bremer Brüder" after an exciting match with 3:2. The two most dominant League of Legends teams of the Uniliga delivered a thrilling final match for the university championship title on Saturday at the Xperion in Cologne.
Karlsruhe is the German university champion for the sixth time. The lucky winners are: Luka "GentlemanHero" Prentovic, Filip "Striker" Prentovic, Robert "DieVolksbanane" Stolpmann, Georg "Taewang" Kinzel, Noah "Matthew Mzizi" Seim and manager Claire "Celio" Phung. Bremen is the runner-up for the eighth consecutive year. The Uniliga teams KIT SC White and Bremer Brüder had previously qualified from 18 teams nationwide for the grand final in Cologne. In addition to the spectators on site, more than 45,000 enthusiastic eSports fans followed the livestream via the official Uniliga twitch channel.
"The final event at the Xperion on Hansaring with the two League of Legends teams was an absolute highlight in the history of the Uniliga. Full stands, emotional game scenes and frenetic fans made the final an unforgettable eSports moment. Congratulations to the Karlsruhe team from KIT," explains Fabian Fromm, Product Manager of the Uniliga.
In the first round of games, things looked surprisingly good for Bremen at first. But then the team from the Weser lost the decisive toplane fight, so that Karlsruhe could fight back and win the first match.
In the second match, Bremen excelled, slowly but surely gaining the lead and clearly winning the round.
At the beginning of the third round, KIT SC White still couldn't find an answer to Bremen's game tactics. Therefore, after a brilliant performance of the opposing team, they had to admit defeat again. But with a more aggressive style of play Karlsruhe came back and won the fourth match. It became exciting once again. Bremen had not yet fully recovered from the defeat and weakened. In the end, the KIT players were convincing. Especially Robert "DieVolksbanane" Stolpmann got everything out of the last match and finally gave the Karlsruhe players the victory.
A recording of the entire final event, including the talk with Weisser Ring and player interviews, is available here.
