Fog of War anti-cheat system presented
09/23/2022 - PUBG MOBILE has officially unveiled the Fog of War anti-cheat system, PUBG MOBILE's latest security measure to effectively combat X-ray vision cheaters, also known as wallhacks.
As the first mobile game to use this advanced anti-cheat technology, Fog of War has already helped reduce cheating in Battle Royale matches. During the testing phase, a decrease of over 50% was recorded. As the system is gradually rolled out, PUBG MOBILE will continue to optimize it to put a stop to unwanted cheaters.
Fog of War is an advanced anti-cheat system that limits the information a player receives by restricting the ability to see players outside of their field of view or through walls and objects. First, the Fog of War system scans all the buildings and terrain on PUBG MOBILE's massive maps. Through internal calculations, the system then intelligently determines what the player should be able to see. Finally, only this specific information is sent back from the server to the player. Non-visible information is not sent in order to put a stop to cheaters with X-ray vision.
Fog of War was previously rolled out on a limited basis on certain maps to test and improve the system. During the limited rollout, the number of reports of X-ray vision cheats dropped by over 50% in games where the Fog of War anti-cheat system was used, and by as much as 62% in key regions.
PUBG MOBILE is the first mobile game in the world to implement this type of security measure on such large, open maps, and the system is becoming more comprehensive. From this point on, the Fog of War anti-cheat system will be gradually extended to all game modes of PUBG MOBILE to collect data and improve the technology until everyone can enjoy a fair and balanced competition.
