New update refines gunplay meta
10/20/2022 - Players across all platforms can now look forward to various improvements to weapon attachments, vehicle gameplay, a new ranked season, world and map updates, and game quality adjustments with Update 20.1.
Weapon Updates
Weapon Attachments: With the vertical grip dominating Battlegrounds as the preferred grip attachment, changes to the thumb grip, angled grip, half grip, vertical grip, and light grip have been made with Update 20.1. A comprehensive list of attachment changes can be found in the patch notes.
Firing from vehicles: there are many advantages to using vehicles in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. Because of these advantages in combat against other players, the development team has conducted tests and evaluated player feedback to reduce one-sided battles between vehicles and players on foot.
Driver: Handgun reload animation will now cancel when the player is operating the vehicle's steering wheel. Handgun reload time increases by approximately 50 percent and recoil for PC users increases by approximately 20 percent.
Passenger: Weapon recoil increases to 20 percent for PC users.
Scopes: To curb the utility of fully automatic ARs, the 8x and 15x scopes can now be attached to the M16A4 and Mk47 Mutant. The 4x scope also receives three additional crosshair types that can be freely selected and used.
World and Map Updates
Blue Zone:Since players seem to drop out of the game comparatively more often on Deston in the Blue Zone than on other maps, the Blue Zone radius rate and start delay will be increased for the first phase. In the second phase, both the radius and damage increase per distance. The jammer pack has also been adjusted for Miramar, Karakin, Haven, and Deston by increasing the damage done to the jammer pack by the Blue Zone.
Game Quality Adjustments
Stretcher Function: The stretcher function can now be used or canceled with the limited interaction buttons. Several bug fixes and improvements have also been made to the use of the stretcher function in certain situations.
Screen Ping Marker: The screen ping marker now appears more transparent the closer a player's or weapon's crosshairs are to the marker. The marker is now also available in ranked matches and disappears after 30 seconds.
Radio Messages: Update 20.1 introduces new inventory-specific radio messages. Players can now notify teammates of the number of a specific item near them or in their inventory, as well as notify members when a player has a specific scope equipped or needs a specific item, attachment, or weapon.
