05/12/2023 - On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the best games of the year were honored at the German Computer Game Awards 2023 (DCP) in Berlin. It was the evening of indie studios and up-and-coming talent. The coveted silver-blue trophy for the "Best German Game" goes to the role-playing game Chained Echoes by Matthias Linda and Deck13 Spotlight.
The indie game Signalis by Rose Engine wins in the categories "Best Debut" and "Best Audio Design". Paintbucket Games from Berlin is named "Studio of the Year". Pia Scholz aka Shurjoka receives the award for "Player of the Year". Presenter Katrin Bauerfeind and entertainer Uke Bosse led through the award ceremony. Around 600 enthusiastic guests on site and thousands of game fans in the livestream followed the show. The DCP is the most important prize of the German games industry and is endowed with 800,000 euros.
For the first time since 2019, the German Computer Game Prize took place in front of a large audience. Numerous invited personalities from the games industry, politics, culture and society celebrated the best games of the year at Spindler & Klatt in Berlin. The trophies were presented by prominent laudators, including Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, Vize-Miss Germany Sandra Friedrichs, singer and Let's Player Lara Trautmann aka Lara Loft, singer Alli Neumann, and actors Tom Lehel and Tyron Ricketts.
Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, said, "Congratulations to all the winners of the German Computer Game Award 2023. In particular, the strong performance of the up-and-coming teams is proof of the great potential of the German games industry. The development of innovative games for the national and international market is an important factor for Germany as a business location. The task for the next few years will be to further develop support in order to keep up with international competition."
Felix Falk, Managing Director of game - Association of the German Games Industry: "Finally we were able to award the prizes in front of a broad audience again. This year in particular, the creative minds behind the games more than deserved this big stage, because the award-winning games were created under the difficult conditions of the Corona pandemic. Outstanding games have been created that are attracting a great deal of attention both at home and abroad. This shows Germany's huge potential as a games location. We congratulate all the winners of the German Computer Game Award 2023."
