Robert Habeck will open gamescom 2022

05/31/2022 - The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck will attend the official opening event of gamescom. After two years in which gamescom was held exclusively digitally due to Corona, the political guests of honor will participate on site again this year.
"We are very pleased to open gamescom 2022 together with Robert Habeck as Minister of Economics and Vice Chancellor of the Federal Government. The fact that the Federal Minister, who brought games into his Ministry of Economics at the start of the new legislative period, is taking part in the opening underlines the high relevance of the medium for the new Federal Government as well. Nowhere else than at gamescom can you better immerse yourself in the fascinating world of games and find out about the latest trends and innovations in order to find the right political set screws to make Germany an even stronger games location," says Felix Falk, managing director of game - Association of the German Games Industry and co-organizer of gamescom.
The commitment was also received happily at Koelnmesse: "Federal Minister Habeck's visit is a sign of great appreciation," says Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH. "He is thus honoring the development of gamescom into one of the most successful and largest events in both the German and international trade fair sectors. Thanks to gamescom as the world's largest event for computer and video games, Cologne as a trade fair location is once again moving into the focus of worldwide media attention."
The political tours of gamescom will start at 5 p.m. on August 24 in the "Made in Germany" area. The political greetings will be held after the tours in the Konrad Adenauer Hall of the Congress Centre North from 6:30 p.m.
