Sons of Attila content update brings tons of new content
09/22/2023 - Gaijin Entertainment announced the release of the "Sons of Attila" update for War Thunder. In addition to the Hungarian ground vehicles, dozens of other combat vehicles are coming into the game - for example, the Leclerc AZUR and Leopard 2 PSO tanks, the Super Etendard carrier-based fighter-bomber, the MiG-29SMT multi-role fighter and the VIDAR Norwegian howitzer.
New visual effects and game features include trees folding over in the wind and the ability to shoot external ammunition from enemy vehicles. A new map "Stone Pillars" based on the landscapes of Southeast Asia has also been added to the game.
Each of the new vehicles in the game has something special about them. The Leopard 2 PSO and the Leclerc AZUR are variants of the famous modern battle tanks designed specifically for use in urban areas. The French Super Etendard became famous during the Falklands War - there were machines of this type in action for the Argentine Air Force, which sank the British destroyer Sheffield. The VIDAR self-propelled howitzer is an export variant of the modern South Korean K9 Thunder, which has been in great demand on the arms market in recent years.
"Sons of Attila" brings seven new helicopters for different game nations: The OH-58D for the US and China, the Mi-8TV for the USSR and Germany, and a number of Hungarian helicopters (three variants of the Mi-24, including the premium Mi-24P). The Mi-8TV is particularly interesting, as it is a combat version of the popular transport helicopter that offers the largest payload in the game.
Finally, modern planes and helicopters now have authentic voice alerts for information. "Rita" or "Bitchin' Betty", as they are usually called by Russian and American pilots, respectively, warn of dangerous altitude, critical overload, duplicate the signal of radar warning systems and report the readiness of guided weapons. "Rita" will be used on the Ka-50, Ka-52, Mi-28N, Mi-28NM, Mi-24V, Mi-24P and MiG-29, while "Betty" will be available on the F-16 and AH-64D.
