Update brings FOX-3 missiles and aircraft from the BeNeLux
06/02/2024 - Gaijin Entertainment announces the major update "Seek & Destroy" for War Thunder. It brings FOX-3 missiles, aircraft from the BeNeLux and numerous new military vehicles to the game in June.
Gaijin Entertainment has announced the major content update "Seek & Destroy" for the online vehicle combat game War Thunder. This update, which will be released in June, will add a host of new content to the game, including advanced air-to-air missiles and a variety of new military vehicles.
One of the most important new features of the update are the FOX-3 missiles. These missiles with active radar control make it possible to track targets autonomously without the need for constant target acquisition. They are particularly effective when used in track-while-scan (TWS) mode, which enables radar correction. However, the target's radar warning device gives the pilots the opportunity to initiate evasive maneuvers.
The first FOX-3 missiles to be introduced in War Thunder include the French MICA, the Chinese PL-12, the American AIM-120, the Russian R-77, the Japanese AAM-4, the Israeli Derby and the South African R-Darter. These missiles will be available on various carrier aircraft, including the Su-27SM, which is now equipped with additional remote-controlled KAB-500Kr and the destructive KAB-1500Kr as well as Kh-29TD guided missiles.
In addition to the missiles, the update also brings new aircraft from Belgium and the Netherlands into play. These will be introduced as a separate Benelux branch in the research tree of neighboring France. The aircraft line ranges from the Gladiator Mk I from the late 1930s to the modern F-16AM Block 15 MLU. The French Mirage 5BA and the Dutch Fokker G.1A will also be part of this expansion.
For ground combatants, there is a Canadian variant of the Leopard 2A4 main battle tank, equipped with additional composite armor modules, an advanced thermal imaging system and the ability to attach cage protection screens and a camouflage net. For fans of naval battles, the Kondor II, a minesweeper of the Volksmarine of the GDR, is introduced with interesting armament, including three 25 mm twin cannons and a FASTA 4M2 launcher unit with Strela-2M anti-aircraft missiles.
