Gaijin Entertainment has announced that War Thunder will receive the "Dance of Dragons" update in September. This update adds two legendary Chinese fighter planes, the J-10 and the JF-17, to the game and starts the closed beta test for the French coastal fleet. In addition, numerous new military vehicles for the navy, land forces and air force will be integrated into the game, including the Chinese-developed Pakistani Al-Khalid I tank.

The JF-17 is a Chinese-developed fighter aircraft that has been in service with the Pakistani Air Force since 2007. It is equipped with a Russian RD-93 turbojet engine, which is also used in the MiG-29. In addition, the JF-17 has modern radar and missile warning systems that are seamlessly integrated into the aircraft's defense systems.

The J-10A, a fourth-generation Chinese fighter aircraft, was developed in the late 1990s and utilizes the most advanced technologies of the time. With a powerful AL-31FN turbofan engine, the aircraft can reach speeds of around Mach 2 at high altitudes. Eleven external load stations allow it to carry an impressive arsenal, including the PL-5E short-range air-to-air missiles newly introduced in War Thunder.

Another highlight of the update is the start of the closed beta test for the French coastal fleet research tree. The first boats in the research tree are maneuverable light torpedo boats such as the VTB-8, VTB-9 and VTB-11. Naval enthusiasts will find the Vedette 40K particularly interesting, as this boat served under three different flags - France, Great Britain and Germany - and was equipped with different armament each time. Also noteworthy is the U-Jagdboot Arras disguised as a merchant ship, which almost looks like a small destroyer.
