F-16, MiG-29, Tornado and numerous other new military vehicles
12/22/2022 - The latest content update "Apex Predators" is online. The focus in this update is on the 4th generation jets F-16, MiG-29 and Tornado, but all game modes have also received extensive new content. The dubbing voices of naval officers and crews in naval battles have been completely revised, and carrier fighters can now take off from five new aircraft carriers.
These are Shokaku (Japan), Illustrious (UK), Saratoga, Lexington and Enterprise (USA). New ground vehicles have also been introduced, such as the exotic U.S. M728 pioneer tank with 165mm gun, the French Char 2C bis super heavy tank, and the Jordanian Khalid main battle tank. More than 20 planes and helicopters now have armor set customization options, and the new top aircraft can be equipped with external fuel tanks.
Along with the release of the update, the Winter Quest event has also begun. Players will be able to complete various missions to obtain combat missions, camouflage paints, and most importantly, four rare combat vehicles, including the Marineflieger Tornado IDS, a German variant of the European fighter-bomber. This aircraft is intended for naval battles and therefore does not have guided bombs, but it can take the AS.34 Kormoran anti-ship missile (new in War Thunder) into battle.
The M728 is an engineer tank based on the chassis of the M60. It was developed in the 1960s and is still in the US Army reserve, and is also used by Saudi Arabia and Oman. The combat machine is equipped with a crane boom on the turret, a winch, a dozer blade and a 165 mm caliber gun. The M728 saw active service in the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, destroying fortifications and clearing roadblocks, as well as performing other pioneering tasks in the field. The Khalid ("sword") is a variant of the British Chieftain, originally developed for the armed forces of Iran under the Shah as the "Shir", but then realized for the Jordanian Army. It differs from the original design by having a much more powerful engine and an additional laser rangefinder.
War Thunder's interconnected battles with ground and air vehicles now also take place on the new "Gold Mine" map, which is modeled after a typical mining and processing facility in the Tien Shan mountains. Teams will have to fight for control points among the tailings piles, concrete walls of the plant halls and on the grounds of the vehicle park with mine dump trucks and bulldozers. In addition, the popular "Poland" locale has been given a wintry makeover - with snowdrifts and a frozen lake where you can now risk attacking the enemy's flank.
