Age of drones
09/15/2022 - Gaijin Entertainment informs that the update "Drone Age" for the online vehicle combat action game War Thunder is now available for players. It expands the range of available weapon systems from different eras.
Reconnaissance and combat drones (the Russian Orion, Chinese Wing Loong 1 and American MQ-1) make modern battles even more realistic, and the legendary Su-25 and Mirage 2000 show what aircraft are capable of. Dozens of new combat vehicles have been added to the game, including a new research tree for Chinese helicopters, Israeli variants of the M48 and M60 tanks, the Turkish T129 ATAK attack helicopter and the South African Rooivalk Mk1F CSH, the Italian dreadnought battleship Andrea Doria, two new maps - "Golden Bay" and "Pradesh", new visual effects for vehicle destruction and much more.
The history of Chinese gunships can now be relived in War Thunder as you work your way through the various models. Initially, Chinese designers adapted imported models, such as the SA.342L Gazelle. The first fully Chinese-built attack helicopter was the Z-9WA, which was modeled after the French Dauphin. This led to even more projects of its own, such as the Z-11WA light reconnaissance helicopter and the highly successful Z-19. Finally, a full-scale Z-10 heavy attack helicopter was developed with the participation of specialists from the Russian Kamov design bureau.
The Mirage 2000C-S5 is the new top jet that will capture the hearts of pilots who love to play France. Its iconic delta wings, excellent flight characteristics and powerful armament make it a worthy competitor for other fourth-generation fighters. The French Air Force's Mirage 2000 was used in many conflicts during the 1990s, from the Gulf War to Allied operations in Afghanistan. The aircraft is also used by Egypt, India, Greece, Qatar, Brazil, Peru and other countries.
The new "Golden Bay" map for naval battles was created based on the San Francisco coastline with the distinctive backdrop of a picturesque bridge over the Straits. The coastline is inspired by the landscape of the areas east of the bay, where small towns, green hills and mountains meet. And the "Pradesh" (meaning "region" in Hindi) locale is designed for ground and aerial combat, recreating the foothills of the Himalayas on the border between India and Pakistan. Here, grassy hills and forested mountains alternate with wetlands and scrubland.
In the land and sea battles, procedurally generated effects for the impact of shells on armor have been added, taking into account the caliber and type of the projectile - smoke and flames now billow from holes in the armor. The simulation of tank explosions has been improved, and running wheels can now fly away from exploding vehicles and collide with other objects on the battlefield. In addition, high-quality models of grenades and rockets are now used in the kill camera and protection analysis menu. The player can now better see how accurately the enemy vehicle (or their own) has been hit and can better prepare for the upcoming battles.
