Snowy map Vikendi returns in time for the holidays!
11/29/2022 - Originally announced in the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS 2022 Development Plan, Vikendi officially returns as Vikendi Reborn at the launch of Update 21.1 on December 6 for PC and December 15 for console players.
Players will encounter new, harsh conditions in Vikendi Reborn. The snow-covered 6x6km map has been expanded to 8x8km in size and brings with it a number of new features - including the new Snowstorm Zone. This zone restricts players' vision with snowstorms that occur all over the map. Below are other numerous features and zones being introduced for Vikendi Reborn.
New Feature: Cable Car
The cable car is a new means of transportation that players can use to move around the map. There are two routes for each station, with only one cable car per route. The cable car runs completely autonomously and can only be boarded after arriving at its station. This new mode of transportation will only be available in Vikendi.
New Region: Lab Camp
With the return of Vikendi, lab camps have been set up around the frozen lake in the northwest, varying in size and structure. Alarms have also been installed in some camps, which are activated immediately when items are taken from supply packs. Speaking of supply packs: There are new variants that spawn in the lab camps and can contain different types of items.
New Mechanics
Comeback BR - The comeback BR mechanic has been adjusted for Vikendi Reborn. Players now get three chances to return to battle instead of just one: Eliminated players watch their teammates until they enter the Comeback BR arena. There, they must survive to get the chance to return to battle. There are a total of three Comeback BR phases during a single match. If a player returns to the match but is eliminated again, they can participate in the next phase - provided they are eliminated during the participant recruitment phase. Players who are eliminated in the first and/or second phase can try again in the next phase. However, if a team is eliminated while waiting for the comeback BR phase to begin, they automatically lose the game.
Familiar features in new locations
Familiar features that were only available in Deston have found their way to Vikendi! Every player who enters Vikendi now receives map items such as the Ascension Rope Attachment and the Reusable Parachute. Ascent ropes have been added to the Observatory and Coal Mine buildings, as well as many other locations on the map, and fuel pumps can also be found.
Crowbars up!
Players can now use crowbars to interact with various objects on the map. They can be used to open cabinets and locked buildings. Crowbars must be equipped in inventory to interact.
Shredding Through the Snow
The snowmobile is back in Vikendi! Up to two players can race through the snow at a top speed of 120 km/h. The snowmobile is driven on level ground. The snowmobile will not slow down on flat surfaces, concrete, roads and hard ground. Players can also shoot handguns from the driver's seat.
Vikendi has been reworked with player feedback in mind and will appear in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on December 6 for PC and December 15 for consoles.
