The adventures of Neverwinter continue: On November 19, the new expansion "As Above, So Below - Return to Pirates' Skyhold" will be released for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. This is the 30th expansion for the popular Dungeons & Dragons MMORPG, which takes players on a journey into the past to rediscover a classic adventure zone. Pirates' Skyhold, once made famous at the launch of Neverwinter 2013, now returns in a comprehensively revamped version.
In the new adventure zone, players join a trusted crew and explore an enhanced environment that offers epic challenges, new secrets and a variety of treasures. The highlight of this expansion is the Dread Sanctum, a relaunched and improved vault that offers numerous challenges. Originally known as the Dread Vault, the Dread Sanctum features completely revamped enemies and a new epic boss finale.
In addition to the return to Pirates' Skyhold, the expansion brings new Heroic Encounters, combat challenges against special monsters and numerous new quests for the heroes of the Sword Coast. There are also new rewards depending on the difficulty level, with the most challenging version offering particularly valuable items.
With a total of three difficulty levels - Normal, Adept and Master - the Dread Sanctum offers a suitable challenge for both random groups and organized guilds. The revamped Adventure Zone is an ideal opportunity for players to venture back into Pirates' Skyhold and uncover the secrets of the past. The aim is to overcome the dangers that have always plagued the area and uncover the story of those who met their end there.
The update also brings improvements to the game experience. Among other things, guild management functions have been overhauled, making it easier to rename guilds and alliances and capture more information about members' activities. In addition, the treasure warehouse has been adapted so that players can now make bulk transfers of items, which simplifies the process considerably.
Another highlight of the expansion are the changes to the popular companions. Many of these companions, including well-known characters such as Celeste and Makos, have been updated and improved. In addition, players can now switch back and forth between two saved power sets, allowing for more flexible adaptation to different game situations.
Two further Neverwinter expansions are already in development, which will take adventurers on a journey to a new, mysterious region in eastern Faerûn. More information will be announced in the coming year.
