Game Engine Update to Version 2.0
10/27/2022 - Gaijin Entertainment announces the release of the Supercharged update for its online action game Crossout. The update to version 2.0 of the Targem Engine, radically optimizes the rendering of battles with armored vehicles on all platforms, while the new controls, sound, camera and interface provide more comfort and a more immersive gameplay experience.
The PC version of Crossout also now supports NVIDIA DLSS 2 technology, which enables high-resolution images and high frame rates simultaneously. The battles in Crossout are also now more varied thanks to a new PvP map, new parts for crafting the post-apocalyptic armored vehicles and the time-limited "Witch Hunt" mode.
Global illumination, contact shadows (SSC), local reflections in the screen space (SSLR) - these are just some of the technologies that have been added with the switch to Targem Engine 2.0. You can see the impact of each technology on Crossout's new look in the trailer here: https://youtu.be/ipcmB0Ahf_g. Additionally, new and revamped effects - such as motion blur, lens flare, bloom and updated post-processing - can be customized by the player at will.
"With the Supercharged update, we've not only advanced Crossout technologically, we've also fundamentally overhauled the visual style, controls and gameplay. To make it easier for experienced wasteland warriors to get started with the new Crossout, many features - such as camera operation or the new hovercraft control system - can be customized to provide the most comfortable gameplay experience possible," said Stanislav Skorb, head of the Crossout development team.
In Crossout, constructing new armored vehicles is no less important than destroying enemy war machines. Now, with the release of the Supercharged update, the best builders are finally getting the glory they deserve. The in-game blueprint exhibition has received new features: You can now subscribe to players and receive notifications about their latest creations, and the most popular ones will be ranked. As part of the update, the handling of your armored car on the track will also be improved. For example, when you start up, the camera reacts to the momentum and moves to the rear of the car for a while. When you brake, it shifts to the front for a short while, and when you turn, it barely noticeably shifts in the opposite direction of rotation. Many of these little things together create the "sense of pace" that is so important in games where vehicles are the focus.
The new map "Quarry" is an area where white marble was mined and processed. Many years have passed since the catastrophe that destroyed the civilization we know, but the rusty special equipment still lies, slowly decaying, among the ruins of industrial buildings. The quarry is divided into two elevation levels: The upper one offers shooting positions for long-range vehicles, while the lower one is a real paradise for lovers of close combat and masters of stealth attack. With the Supercharged update, the topology of other Crossout maps has also changed, blowing up large objects.
Finally, in the "Witch Hunt" mode, players can take a break from the brutal post-apocalyptic battles and chase a bunch of festive balloons, collect witch cauldrons and hurl ticking bombs at rivals as a pleasurable pastime. Rewards include candy that can be exchanged for cosmetic items and parts for armored vehicles, including epic vehicles.
