09/19/2024 - Crossout's Next Step Update brings a breath of fresh air to the world of armored combat by allowing players to control their own Battle Walkers. These mechanical war machines open up new possibilities in combat and bring additional depth to the gameplay. The update also marks the start of a new season, bringing with it a host of new parts and challenges.
Battle walkers and new parts
At the heart of the "Next Step" update are the new Battle Walkers, which are equipped with robotic legs. These parts are available in three variations: the "Flamingo" legs for fast movement, the lighter "Tengu" legs with dash ability and the heavy "RL-M Dino" legs, which can even fly for a short time. Each of these variations comes with special advantages, such as resistance to explosions, ramming and melee damage.
In addition to the legs, new weapons and modules have also been introduced. The "Swarm" rocket launcher fires a variety of homing missiles, while the "Slaughterer" grenade launcher deals damage with a shrapnel explosion in the target area. The new legendary "Jackie" module boosts attached parts such as weapons and engines. With these new parts, players can further customize their vehicles and adapt them to their play style.
New "Next Step" game mode
The eponymous "Next Step" game mode replaces all previous PvP missions in which armored aircraft could be used. Battle walkers and other vehicles with the new robotic legs can now compete in these missions. The aim is to collect 15 victory points as a team, which are achieved by destroying enemies and collecting capsules left behind. The mode allows respawns so that the action continues uninterrupted.
Other new features and seasonal content
The update also introduces a new map for the "Bedlam" mode: "Way to the Top", where driving skills and dexterity are required to reach the summit. Balance changes and adjustments to various weapons and vehicle parts also improve the overall feel of the game. The new season offers a total of 75 levels with rewards. Additional bonus rewards can be unlocked from level 76.
The Battle Pass, which is available until December 18, 2024, contains exclusive rewards such as new cosmetic items, vehicles and other resources. Players can also complete special challenges to rank up faster and earn valuable parts and currency.
