Hailstorm update brings new tanks, random events and more
09/04/2024 - World of Tanks enters a new era with the Hailstorm update: In addition to new Czechoslovakian tanks and dynamic fire mechanics, players can expect revised maps, an improved crew advantage system and a fresh Battle Pass season.
World of Tanks: Hailstorm update sets new standards
The Hailstorm update of World of Tanks marks one of the biggest updates in 2024, bringing a breath of fresh air to the game with a host of new features and improvements. One of the main features are the new Czechoslovakian light tanks, which bring with them a completely new firing mechanic. These vehicles, especially the Vz. 71 Tesák at level X, are known for their high rate of fire. The high-tier tanks' autocannons can fire several thousand rounds per minute, which requires players to rethink their strategy.
New random events and revised maps
In addition to the new vehicles, the Hailstorm update also offers more dynamic battlefields. Eight maps have been reworked to improve gameplay for all vehicle classes. In addition, new random events have been added to three maps: In Pilsen, the central factory is bombed, an airplane crashes into the mountain in Malinovka, and in Karelia, a rockslide changes the terrain. These events require quick reactions and open up new strategic possibilities.
Improved crew system
The crew benefits system has also been extensively revised. From now on, each crew member can learn up to six perks, and additional XP earned allows players to obtain universal training manuals. Players can now set up and experiment with their crews even more effectively, as resetting perks is free for a month. New and improved perks have also been introduced to further optimize crew interaction.
Battle Pass and Rush Season
The new Battle Pass season, inspired by the Weapon Bearer universe, offers exclusive rewards such as unique customizations and insights into Max von Krieger's backstory. Players will have the final opportunity to collect tokens for special vehicles that they may have missed out on in previous seasons. The new Onslaught season also brings fresh challenges and rewards, including new Tier X vehicles.
Rebalancing and new consumables
Several popular vehicles, including the Bat.-Châtillon 25 t and the M48 Patton, have been reworked to be competitive again. The adjustments affect both the standard and upgraded modules of these tanks. In addition, the consumables have been adapted so that small first aid kits and spare parts boxes now offer the same functions as the larger versions. Further improvements to the fuels ensure even better combat readiness.
