Mech Shooter receives first content update
12/21/2022 - War Robots: Frontiers has released its first major update. The latest update includes 2 new robots, 3 new weapon systems that can be used on multiple mechs, and 2 new ability modules.
With these new robot parts, weapon systems, and ability modules, there are millions of combinations players can create in the game's hangar, with more to come in future updates. The two new robot series, the Griffin and the Typhon, add some high-tech power to the lineup that focuses on weakening smart arrays. The Griffin does this via radar and optical interference systems. Opponents targeting the mech will find that their mech's cameras are jammed by noise, making it difficult to get a good shot off. The Typhon, on the other hand, can apply strong weakening interference to up to 3 enemies, making it an excellent machine for team fights.
New high-tech weapon systems such as Halo, Pulsar, and Gozer expand the possibilities of warfare. The Halo weapons are great for hitting multiple targets, while the Pulsars are medium-range energy cannons. The Gozers behave differently depending on how many of them are installed on the mech; moreover, they are excellent sniper cannons.
Finally, two new ability modules provide ways to avoid enemies: Smoke Wall obstructs the enemy's vision and is suitable for sneaky players, and Blocking Field provides effective cover for players who want to control the battlefield. The update also brings updates to the tutorial and hangar UI, as well as support for Japanese and Chinese to the game.
This is the first of many updates planned during the Early Access phase. The developers stated that they want to give players an early taste of the game so that they can take their feedback into account as the game evolves. Future updates will include new maps, modes, weapons, skill modules and other additions to the game systems. Also planned are improvements to the graphical quality, changes to the game's balance, and further technical polish before the game hits the market.
Players can join Early Access by purchasing a Pioneer Pack, which is available through the game's website or via Steam. A Pioneer Pack includes not only access to the game, but also items for use in the game. Pioneers can participate in the development of the game and be the first to try out new features and help the developers with feedback and suggestions. After the Early Access phase, the game will be released as a free-to-play version in 2023.
