Blizzard Entertainment is inviting fans of Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft to a special crossover event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft. From September 17 to 30, 2024, players will have the opportunity to unlock and experience exclusive content from both game worlds.

The special skins designed for this event bring iconic characters from World of Warcraft to life in Overwatch 2. Widowmaker takes on the role of the Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner, while Reinhardt takes on the role of the Lich King Arthas and wields his legendary sword Frostmourne. Zenyatta embodies Thrall, the famous leader of the Horde, and Torbjörn fights for the justice of Azeroth in the guise of Diamond Magni Bronzebeard.

Each of these cosmetic customizations reflects the essence of both worlds and brings them to life in the gameplay of Overwatch 2. Especially during match highlights, the skins are highlighted with their special cutscenes, making the crossover event a unique experience for players. Additionally, there are nostalgic emotes inspired by the quest givers from World of Warcraft to further emphasize the connection between the two worlds.

In addition to the skins, other rewards await players who are active during the event. Up to ten free rewards such as talismans, sprays, icons and name cards can be earned. Players who want to experience the event to the fullest also have the opportunity to purchase the Mega Pack, which contains all skins and cosmetic extras.

But that's not all. Blizzard announces that Overwatch 2 is also celebrating its birthday. Starting September 24th, a month-long anniversary celebration will begin, bringing back popular game modes from years past. Week 1 will kick off with the "Battle of the Beasts" and "Community Creation" modes, while week 2 will feature "April, April 2024" and the "Cosmic Crisis". In the following weeks, players can expect the "Mirror World" and the "Prop Hunt" with new challenges.
