Season 4 starts with a new hero and adventurous events!
04/11/2023 - The fourth season of Overwatch 2 is in the starting blocks and brings with it numerous innovations and exciting content. At the center of the season is the new support hero Lifeweaver, who wants to heal the world with his bio-light-based abilities. In addition to this new hero, players can expect a whole range of cosmetic extras, events and gameplay updates.
Lifeweaver is a Thai scientist who is on the run from Vishkar. His abilities are focused on healing and saving team members. With his ultimate ability, the Tree of Life, he can both protect and continuously heal his allies.
To celebrate the new hero, the Thai New Year event will take place from April 11-25, where players will compete in 3v3 deathmatches in the brand new arcade mode B.O.B. and Weave. Participants can earn special rewards related to Lifeweaver and the Thai New Year.
Another highlight of the season is the launch of the new Talantis control map, which was designed by the Overwatch community during a livestream in December 2022. The map will be available in the Arcade from April 25 to May 1.
From May 9 to May 22, players will be able to participate in the Starwatch: Galactic Salvation PvP event, fighting on the side of either the Watchers or the Infinite Empire. The Premium Battle Pass also includes numerous cosmetic space opera extras that give the heroes new skins and looks.
The gods return to the battlefield when the Battle for Olympus event takes place May 23-29. In this explosive FFA deathmatch, the deities once again take on each other and players can team up in team deathmatch rules.
To celebrate life, friendship and love, there will be other events throughout the season, starting with the Symmetra Challenge, where players can unlock the Gardener Symmetra skin and other spring rewards. The first Pride event for Overwatch 2 will start on June 1.
The fourth season also saw a number of hero updates, including game balance updates for Brigitte, Sigma, Reinhardt and Cassidy. The developers have also responded to player feedback on Mercy's changes in Season 3 and made some adjustments.
The ranking and player assignment systems have also been revised for Season 4. For example, the rank drop per season has been eliminated, and players can now see the average level of play in a match. Player assignment for substitutes in unranked matches has also been tweaked so that substitutes are now selected more based on level of play.
Overwatch 2's galactic-genius fourth season kicks off today, April 11, at 20:00 CEST. So fans of the game should get ready to try out Lifeweaver and all the exciting new features and events of the season.
