Among the teams vying for the top prize was Dota 2 powerhouse Team OG, the first team in Dota 2 history to win four Dota Major Championships. Team Tundra Esports, the reigning champions of Dota tournament "The International," also entered the 2023 Masters as one of the favorites. This year, the victory went to Team Spirit, who beat Team Liquid in the final.

The prize pool of 15 million US dollars is the largest awarded in a Dota 2 competition this season, and the teams' will to win was correspondingly high. Over 120,000 fans watched the official broadcast on Twitch to witness the epic showdown. Esports athletes from around the world will compete in twelve tournaments with a total of $45 million in prize money at stake.
