Battleship Wisconsin comes with the April update
04/11/2024 - Wargaming is letting players build the historic American battleship Wisconsin in the shipyard. In addition to the new ship build, there's a special event pass with two 20-level progression lines to ring in the Japanese Golden Week holidays and the remake of the fan-favorite Asymmetric Battles!
Wisconsin and West Virginia '44 in the shipyard
At the forefront of the April content update is the American Tier X battleship Wisconsin. Equipped with nine accurate 406 mm main guns, as well as high speed and good camouflage, it is the perfect ship for fast-paced gameplay. To mitigate the risk of damage from the ship's weaker armor, the Wisconsin is equipped with special combat instructions that reduce prep and reload time for consumables, as well as reload time for the main battery cannon.
To unlock the Wisconsin, players must complete 30 phases of the shipbuilding process, 28 of which can be completed via combat missions in the shipyard. Along the way, players will also be rewarded with another American battleship, the West Virginia 1944.
To further support the restoration of the turret of the real USS Wisconsin, a naval museum in Norfolk, Virginia, various in-game bundles will be available for purchase, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Nauticus Foundation. World of Warships is also sponsoring tickets for all veterans and service members visiting Nauticus in April.
Japanese Golden Week celebrations
In celebration of Golden Week, which takes place in Japan in early May, a brand new event pass will drop anchor in the waters of Warships, offering players a host of new rewards. Across two 20-level progression lines, players can discover a wealth of rewards, including signal containers and golden tokens.
Rewards for the two lines include two different commanders, Andrei Teodorescu from Romania with six skill points and Ashikaga Teru from Japan. Also a permanent bonus package for level VII ships and four different camouflages. As part of the celebrations, players will be able to try out a brand new cloak for the duration of this update, which features a special destruction animation.
Asymmetrical battles rise from the depths again
For fans of player-versus-anyone gameplay, the revival of asymmetrical combat offers even more intense battles. From April 11 to May 16, players can get back into the action and take on an armada of twelve bots. Using the same set of rules as the previous asymmetric battles, captains can choose from Tier VI-X ships of any type and assemble fleets of five ships to gain supremacy at sea.
The April update also continues Early Access for Commonwealth cruisers, before they become researchable in the research tree with update 13.4. This update also welcomes three new gore battles from April 22 to April 29, available in a nine-on-nine format for Tier X destroyers, cruisers and battleships.
