At the beginning of the year, World of Warships surprises with an extensive update that offers various new features. From January 9 to February 6, six special ship operations will be available as a separate battle type from the previous standard operations. These new challenges are aimed at experienced players who want to hold their own against a new type of opponent: Flagships, which act as particularly strong leaders of their fleets.

Flagships and their special abilities

In the new operations, there are three types of flagships that are equipped with individual abilities:

• Fire Specialist: Increases the fire probability of allies, but is vulnerable to fire attacks.
• Torpedo Master: Shortens the reload time of torpedoes for the fleet, but has an increased vulnerability to torpedoes itself.
• Iron Fist: Gives the fleet a speed bonus and powerful projectiles, but explodes when destroyed and damages surrounding ships.

These flagships appear one after the other in the first three weeks. In the fourth week, players will finally have to face all three at the same time.

Dutch cruisers in Early Access

Another highlight of the update is Early Access to the Dutch cruisers. From January 9 to March 6, players can unlock three new ships:

• Jaarsveld (level VIII)
• Menno Van Coehoorn (level IX)
• Utrecht (level X)

These cruisers feature powerful 128mm guns, good armor-piercing ammunition and useful abilities such as a long-range air attack, engine boost and a rapidly deployable repair crew. A special event pass accompanies the launch of the new ships and offers additional rewards such as permanent camouflages.

Björn's Ballad: A new adventure

From January 16, players can embark on the adventure "Björn's Ballad". The story takes players to a fantasy world in which a legendary warrior who fought sea monsters plays the leading role. The campaign is divided into three chapters, each offering different missions. Rewards include the Commander Björn Stormbreaker with six skill points as well as special containers and discounts on theme packs.
