Gamescom 2022 Update

07/07/2022 - Preparations for the world's largest games event, gamescom, are progressing in leaps and bounds. Since the last update in mid-May, the number of registered companies has doubled to more than 500, and many more registrations will be added before the event.
From traditional AAA companies to promising indie newcomers and numerous tech companies, gamescom will showcase games in all their facets as well as exciting innovations from many areas related to games. Among the exhibitors on site in Cologne are:
2K, 505 Games, Aerosoft, Amazon Web Services, AMD, Assemble Entertainment, astragon Entertainment, Bandai Namco, BenQ, Daedalic Entertainment, ESL Gaming, GIANTS Software, HandyGames, HoYoverse, Humble Games, HyperX, Kalypso Media Group, Koch Media, KRAFTON, Level Infinite (Tencent), MEDION, Neowiz, NetEase Games, Pico Interactive Pte, Raw Fury, Razer, Samsung, SEGA Europe, SteelSeries, TaleWorlds Entertainment, Team17, THQ Nordic, Thunderful, TikTok, Ubisoft, Warner Bros. Games, Western Digital, Xbox and Xsolla.
Specifically for the gamescom merch area, 75 companies have now signed up, including major players such as ak tronic, Blizzard Gear Store, E.M.P. Merchandising, Konami Digital Entertainment, MINI and Square Enix.
Felix Falk, Managing Director of game - Association of the German Games Industry: "Together with the community and the exhibitors, we are really looking forward to the end of August, when the unique gamescom atmosphere can finally be experienced again live on site in Cologne. However, it is also clear that while several areas such as the indie area, merchandise area or event arena will be larger and more diverse than ever before, some important partners will also be missing, while other exhibitors will be on site for the first time. This shows: the long-term effects of the Corona pandemic are also leaving their mark on the games industry. Delayed game developments, increased costs and uncertainties regarding international travel are just three reasons why some games companies will not be able to be represented in Cologne again this year. However, this does not change the fact that gamescom will once again be an absolute highlight and an unforgettable experience awaits visitors."
Oliver Frese, Managing Director and COO of Koelnmesse: "The comeback after Corona is challenging for many events and trade fairs. It is all the more pleasing that gamescom will defend its status as the world's largest games event in just its first year after the break, thanks to the many companies represented on site. We are pleased that we will be able to implement all elements of gamescom as a 360-degree event again and offer additional innovations such as an expanded offer for Creator or even more community activities with gamescom epix. This will make gamescom THE experience of the global gaming year again. Like the companies that have already registered, we are convinced that gamescom is a central meeting place for companies as well as the community and will remain so in the future."
In the weeks leading up to gamescom, fans will receive regular updates on the event's wide range of offerings - i.e. the event arena, the various community areas or the gamescom city festival, among others - as well as the plans of participating companies. Interested companies can still become part of gamescom. Ukrainian developer studios will receive free booth space at gamescom 2022.
