gamescom congress 2022 starts with call for papers

06/15/2022 - The gamescom congress is back! After two digital editions, the gamescom congress will once again take place on-site at gamescom in Cologne on August 25, 2022. Proposals for topics can be submitted as of now. The call for papers ends on June 30, 2022.
Whether in the classroom, in industry, in healthcare or in social coexistence - all economic and social areas can benefit from games, their technologies and designs. At the gamescom congress in 2021, 56 experts showed which impulses are being set. A total of 118,000 viewers followed the gamescom congress 2021 in a 15-hour live stream. Selected expert lectures and panels will also be played out digitally in 2022. But after the return to the face-to-face event, the focus this year will be in particular on the exchange with guests on site. The conference is aimed at experts from the fields of culture, education, politics, science, journalism as well as game development and a wide range of business sectors.
Current research projects or practical examples in which games make a difference are suitable for submitting topic proposals. The topics can be wide-ranging and, for example, provide answers to the following questions:
- What impulses can games provide for more climate protection?
- How can computer games promote learning?
- How does the economy benefit from games technologies?
- What opportunities do games offer in the healthcare sector?
- What role do games play in social interaction?
The congress will take place for the 14th time in 2022 as part of gamescom, the world's largest event for computer and video games and Europe's leading business platform for the games industry. After a two-year break, the congress will return with keynotes, panels and workshops. The gamescom congress is organized by Koelnmesse GmbH and game - Association of the German Games Industry. The conference is sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung.
Notes for the submission process:
- Topic proposals should highlight the potential and challenges of computer games that do not require expertise in game development.
- Submission of a topic requires a meaningful title and a brief description. A more detailed presentation of the topic proposal is not required at the time of submission.
- Duration: until June 30, 2022
