Super aircraft carrier and new game mode Airship Derby
02/17/2022 - Wargaming, developer and publisher of the free-to-play maritime combat title, World of Warships, announces the details of the latest update. These include more ships, a new battle mode and the maiden voyage of a long-awaited nation.
New supercarriers
Jets on the horizon! - Not one but two new supercarriers are making their way into World of Warships, celebrating both British and American naval power. The Eagle hails from the British Navy, which in the 1950s housed some of the most advanced deck-based aircraft, including jets. The United States was recreated in the game based on unfinished original plans from 1949, giving players a glimpse of what the U.S. had planned with its aircraft carriers. Both ships feature two squadron types: the standard squadron and an all-new tactical squadron. These very fast jet-powered aircraft can cover long distances in a very short time and launch lightning-fast attacks on enemy ships.
Airship Derby
With the latest update, players can also dive into a brand new temporary game mode: Airship Derby. Here, teams of 12 compete in a Tier X ship showdown, escorting these iconic airships to their destinations. Taking a cue from historical tactical warfare, where key diplomats were escorted to neutral territories for secret negotiations, players can get a feel for the risky missions. The team that beats its opponents and escorts the airship to its destination first wins the match.
Panasian Cruisers
The new Pan-Asian Cruisers will continue their maiden voyage in Early Access. The Rahmat and the Harbin are available for Pan-Asian tokens, while the Jinan and the Sejong are available for doubloons. The Dragon port has also been updated to celebrate this release, offering access to a special combat mission to unlock a unique commemorative flag.
Personal Challenges and New from the Mediterranean: Spain Mixes In!
With the launch of update 0.11.1, players can participate in new Personal Challenges. As a reward for the Mediterranean event, captains can receive two Tier VI ships: the Spanish heavy cruiser Canarias, which will be the first Spanish ship in the game, and the long-awaited cruiser Dido from the Royal Navy.
