October brings playable submarines in Early Access
10/06/2022 - Wargaming welcomes autumn and with it a load of new content from update 0.11.9. The most important news is the introduction of submarines from the United States and Germany to Early Access. Also, some operations and a temporary battle type will be available in preparation for Halloween.
Captains dive deeper into the game with submarines
Submarines have finally arrived in Early Access - a highly anticipated brand new playable ship class. These dangerous ships, which operate primarily underwater, have torpedoes as their main weapon. Thanks to their armament and cloaking ability, they are effective against all classes of ships, but are vulnerable if detected. As part of this Early Access launch, two sets of German and American Level VI and VIII submarines will be available in the armory.
To familiarize yourself with these skilled ships, there will be a new Operation Wolf Pack that will run throughout the duration of the update. Teams of seven will be tasked with hunting down convoys, lurking beneath the surface, and navigating past outposts to destroy the transports before they reach their destination.
Halloween is just around the corner
In the lead-up to Halloween at the end of the month, Operations Protect the Transylvania and Sunbeam in Darkness will be available in World of Warships. In addition, the temporary game mode "Twilight Skirmish" returns just in time for the spooky season after its first appearance in 2018. Two weeks after the launch of this update, two teams of seven will compete against each other on the map of Operation " Sunbeam in the Darkness ". Tasked with destroying the opposing team, the ships must navigate through an ever-shrinking safety zone that they cannot leave without taking damage.
Fresh features for the fall
In addition to the major addition of submarines and festive flair for Halloween, update 0.11.9 also brings a number of changes to commanders and cross-server matchmaking. Several commander talents, skills and upgrades have been generally improved to provide better balance and more flexibility. The commander skill interface has also been adjusted to allow players to see available commanders from all nations, regardless of whether they have a ship from the same nation in reserve.
To top it all off, the World of Warships team is also testing cross-server matchmaking.
