129,757 dollars raised for Save the Children
12/13/2021 - Wargaming, the developer and publisher of World of Warships, raised $129,757 for Save the Children in a 24-hour Christmas charity livestream this past weekend. All proceeds from the packed livestream, the sale of the Christmas Charity Bundle, and an additional donation from Wargaming will go to Save the Children.
As part of an existing and ongoing partnership with global charity Save the Children, the stream took place on World of Warships` official Twitch channel and was packed with heaps of activities including Twitch drops, fun challenges, special guests and of course the Warships games. Donations were also generated through sales of a Christmas charity bundle, with Wargaming throwing an additional equal amount of proceeds into the shared donation pot.
The varied livestream included auctions for rare ships and in-game goodies for viewers to participate in, as well as interactive games, guessing games and action-packed naval battles. The event was hosted alternately by staff from World of Warships and World of Warships: Legends, who completed a series of fun challenges in the spirit of the good cause. During the stream, World of Warships players donated more than $45,000, which Wargaming matched with a similar amount including charity packs.
Those who still want to participate in the campaign can do so by purchasing the Christmas Charity Bundle. This is still available until December 20 and includes a special flag and patch, as well as various camouflages to give your own fleet in World of Warships a suitable coat of paint. All proceeds from the bundle will be donated to Save the Children.
This promotion is part of an ongoing partnership between Wargaming and Save the Children, which has raised a total of over $217,000 through Christmas charity events over the past three years.
