The third season of the Extraction shooter is here!
03/29/2023 - The Cycle: Frontier launches its third season today, called Breakthrough! This milestone brings some long-awaited improvements to the tense FPS shooter for veterans and newcomers alike.
These include loadout presets to select the optimal equipment for the drop on Fortuna III, free loadout runs that provide faction equipment, an overhaul of the Prospect Station, and other measures to combat the ubiquitous cheaters in online multiplayer games. YAGER also brings fresh campaigns and missions to the game for new Prospectors and veterans alike, further telling the story of Fortuna III. For new players in particular, the tutorial missions have also been expanded to make it as easy as possible to get started with The Cycle: Frontier and the third season.
At the start of Breakthrough, a new type of enemy awaits all brave prospectors on Fortuna III, which will also be part of the new campaign. The Howler is a flying PvE enemy that either stays asleep in its nest on the Bright Sands and Crescent Falls maps or flies through the air with bloodcurdling screams and loud wing beats. Should the players run into the Howler, the flying monster will attack directly, even at long range, and can inflict massive damage on all the prospectors. However, as always with The Cycle: Frontier, high risk also means excellent loot, so it is extremely rewarding to face the new danger.
The previous weapon system has also been revised and expanded to offer an even more varied arsenal of weapons. From now on, there are modified and rare MK II weapons that can neither be crafted nor purchased, but can only be found on Fortuna III. Weapons that already have great penetrating power will be listed in the "MK I" level in the future. On the Prospect Station, which has been completely redesigned, players will now also find a new crafting station.
YAGER's top priority continues to be the fight against cheaters in order to ensure fair cooperation on the online servers. Since all kills are tracked, all players who were killed by a banned cheater will retroactively receive automatic compensation in the form of all the loot they were carrying at the time of the kill. This measure complements the already very successful "Shielded Matchmaking", which was already introduced for Season 2 and transfers trustworthy accounts of players into a protected matchmaking to avoid frustration in the first place. In addition, further software updates were developed that make it even more difficult to create cheats.
