Hearthstone announces exciting new features in the Year of Pegasus
03/12/2024 - Hearthstone is gearing up for the Year of Pegasus to celebrate the game's tenth anniversary. This special year brings new card set expansions, an update to the core set and the launch of "Battleground: Duos", a cooperative game mode. In addition to these new features, there will be events and gifts for players.
In the wake of Hearthstone's tenth anniversary, Blizzard Entertainment is ushering in the Year of Pegasus. This celebration marks not only a decade of innovation and entertainment in digital card games, but also the beginning of a new era of fresh content and opportunities for the player community. Game Director Tyler Bielman emphasizes the significance of this milestone and promises to celebrate Hearthstone's past and future with fans throughout the year.
Kicking things off are special birthday gifts and in-game events that will be introduced in the upcoming 28.6 patch. Players can look forward to 12 additional cards when logging in and the return of several iconic cards in the updated core set. In addition, the year will be marked by three major card set expansions designed to expand the foundation of Hearthstone and take it in new directions.
A particular focus is the new cooperative game mode "Battleground: Duos", which received positive feedback at BlizzCon. This mode allows friends and strangers to strive for victory together. To celebrate the tenth anniversary, anniversary rewards will also take place in-game, including golden versions of the "Gabe" cards and a special birthday coin. In addition, players can take a journey through the entire history of Hearthstone in hook format, starting with the archive set and ending with the current meta.
Music lovers can look forward to the album "Hearthstone: Music from the Tavern", which will be released on the game's official birthday and offers a selection of over 30 songs from Hearthstone. Further albums are planned over the course of the year.
The community will also be involved, with a community day that includes Twitch drops and joint celebrations with well-known Hearthstone streamers. In addition, World of Warcraft is joining in the festivities by allowing players to receive the new Fiery Pegasus mount when they log into Hearthstone during the event period.
