Blizzard Entertainment has announced the eighth Battlegrounds season for Hearthstone, which begins on August 20. With this new season, ratings will be reset and an exciting new mechanic, "trinkets," will be introduced.

New mechanic: Trinkets

Trinkets are special passive buffs that players can buy with gold. These will be available in turns 6 and 9 and offer a choice of four different options. In total, there are 56 minor trinkets (turn 6) and 60 major trinkets (turn 9) in season 8. Some trinkets exist in both versions, allowing players to flexibly adapt their strategy. The cost and type of trinkets on offer vary depending on the hero, minion types and your own troop.

New hero: Marin the Manager

The new season also sees the introduction of a new hero: Marin the Manager. He brings an additional special feature in that he offers another trinket and even one turn earlier. Marin is designed to give players a strategic advantage and more opportunities for tactical decisions.

Changes to minions and spells

At the start of Season 8, 38 minions will be removed from the selection and 18 familiar minions will return. There are also 27 new minions and 2 new inn spells. Blizzard has released a detailed reveal schedule that includes the specific dates for the reveal of the different minion types.

Battleground Preview Event

A preview event will take place on August 19, where select content creators will test the new trinkets live. This event will be streamed on various channels and will give players the opportunity to get a sneak preview of the new content.

Season 8 reward path

With the start of the new season, the reward path will also be reset. Players can earn new rewards, including additional hero options, hero skins, emotes and more. The Season Pass allows you to instantly unlock 2 Hero Options at the start of each game and unlock more exclusive rewards.
