Summary of the final of the World Series of Warzone
09/20/2023 - Over the weekend, the global finals of the World Series of Warzone (WSOWTM ) presented by Prime Gaming took place at the Copper Box Arena in London. More than 3000 fans had gathered to witness Fifakill, TOMMEY and others compete in front of their fans for their share of the $600,000 total prize money and be crowned the best Call of Duty: Warzone players.
The tournament was held in front of a live audience for the first time and was undoubtedly the most successful to date. At peak times, it was watched by a remarkable 378,316 spectators - hardly surprising given the unprecedented growth of the WSOW in recent years. Since its inception in 2021, a total of 80,793 players have participated over the years.
Fans were treated to two competitions at once: the WSOW's three-player squad tournament and the distinctive SoloYolo competition. The former pitted the top 50 three-man teams in the world against each other. Biffle, Sage and Shifty carried off the victory and cleared the prize money of $100,000. The final remained exciting until the last minute, when Team Biffle won the last game with 24 kills (125 total).
Three-team tournament winner Biffle stated "Because the tournament was held in person this year, the win is even more poignant. The atmosphere was incredible, attracting a much wider community, which is really promising! We're on fire for e-sports as a sport, and to have such a large network as support was really overwhelming!"
The SoloYolo competition featured the 150 players:inside who qualified for the WSOW global finals. Skullface took home the $100,000 prize money, even though Authorized and bbreadman were narrowly defeated. Skullface secured the win with a daring and final kill in one of the most action-packed Call of Duty: Warzone games ever. The moment of victory can be seen here.
Skullface told fans after his win, "Supporting live in an e-sports tournament shows how far the industry has come in terms of popularity and engagement. To come in first place at such a legendary event was an absolute pleasure."
