Summary of the First Playable event

07/22/2022 - The Italian Interactive Digital Entertainment Association (IIDEA), the Italian video game association representing the national gaming industry, is pleased with the success of First Playable, Italy's premier B2B event for the video game industry, which returned locally earlier this month for the first time since the pandemic.
With three days of talks, panels, coaching and pitching, First Playable offered the international video game industry a glimpse into the Italian developer scene and opened up new opportunities for developers and publishers alike. Thanks to First Playable, around 500 meetings took place at the venue, the Republican Arsenal in Pisa, and around 130 other virtual meetings were also held. More than 30 publishers participated and spoke with an impressive 90 Italian development studios, represented by 170 developers.
In addition, 25 speakers from 7 different countries gave presentations to a live audience and viewers at home. Nearly 10 hours of talks and panels were streamed on the First Playable Twitch channel and the event's media partner, Multiplayer.it. In addition, the Italian Video Game Awards were also broadcast via the ceremony's international media partner, Video Games Chronicle. There were over 92,000 live viewers, and both the presentations and the awards ceremony can be seen online via the First Playable Twitch channel.
"The creativity and passion we see in the Italian game development scene is something we at IIDEA are very proud of, so it's always a pleasure to share this with the world," said Thalita Malagò, General Manager at IIDEA."The last editions of First Playable were held online due to the pandemic, which made it very difficult for us to organize this year's event. However, it seems that we had the best of both worlds with an excellent physical event to share far and wide. This year's First Playable had a lot to offer, and we are already looking forward to next year's event."
First Playable was organized by IIDEA and the Tuscany Film Commission of Fondazione Sistema Toscana with support from MAECI, Agenzia ICE, the City of Pisa, and the Tuscany Region through Fondazione Sistema Toscana. Italian game developers took center stage at First Playable: Red Bull and Xsolla were among the sponsors of the event, which also promotes Italian developers with the Red Bull Indie Forge and the Xsolla Contest. First Playable was also sponsored by Acer, 34BigThings and MixedBag, and enjoyed partnerships with three gaming accelerators: Cinecittà Game Hub, Bologna Game Farm, and Quickload and Women in Games Italy.
