War Robots introduces permanent PvE mode with update 8.8
03/23/2023 - MY.GAMES, the Amsterdam-based publisher, announces that their mobile PvP shooter War Robots, the flagship of the Pixonic team, will introduce the permanent PvE mode "Extermination" with the update 8.8.
Integrating PvE into a PvP game is a challenge that few developers take on. Since the release of War Robots in 2014, the game was mostly known for pitting players against each other. However, the development team has been thinking about adding PvE from the beginning to give players a break from the intense multiplayer battles and experience the War Robots universe from a different perspective.
The concept of "Extermination" was born at Pixonic Tech Days, where team members set aside their routine tasks to get creative and experiment. An early PvE version appeared in War Robots in May 2022 as a limited-time event. Based on positive fan feedback and demand for such a mode, it was only a matter of time before PvE was permanently integrated into the game.
"Sometimes players' ideas can diverge from what the developers had in mind, but that wasn't the case with the PvE mode in War Robots. It seems that everyone who has ever played the game has dreamed about it at least once. So when the opportunity arose to make it a reality, it was a perfect coincidence: Players had been asking for it, and the team couldn't wait to deliver it. It was a challenging project, but also fun and exciting." - Boris Burangulov, Executive Producer of War Robots.
In Extermination, players choose a group of mechs and battle giant robot spiders in various levels to earn valuable rewards. The difficulty of the levels increases as players progress, and larger rewards are offered. At first, the commanders fight against smaller enemies called ticks that attack in swarms. Later in the game, the enemies pose a serious threat even to experienced players, and in the final level, the boss Bastion awaits the players. There is no limit to the number of attempts to finish the run, and the overall progress resets every few weeks.
At the beginning of this adventure, the team has prepared a special cinematic that shows the encounter of the legendary pilot Nessa Riggs, the main character of Extermination, with the Gray Swarm for the first time.
With the introduction of "Extermination" mode, War Robots offers players an exciting new way to experience the game while collecting valuable rewards.
