New date announced for crossplay beta of The First Descendant

The First Descendant

08/04/2023 - NEXON Korea and NEXON Games announced today that the upcoming cross-play beta of The First Descendant will be available to anyone who registers here. The open beta has been moved to September 19-25 to ensure that all registered Descendants can experience the title to the fullest on any platform of their choice.

The new features and improvements were derived directly from player feedback on Discord and other official channels, with a focus on performance optimization and significant Quality-of-Life improvements. The First Descendant Open Beta will be available for free on Steam, PlayStation®4 (PS4™), PlayStation®5 (PS5™), Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S starting September 19.

In addition, Nexon will show players in a detailed prologue how the current events that they will experience at the beginning of the game came about. Why have the Vulgus invaded the continent of Ingris? Why are they trying to take possession of the Iron Heart? How will humanity fight back? All these questions will be answered in the upcoming prologue.

  • Use of the latest Unreal Engine 5.2
  • Performance and quality modes for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S

Quality-of-Life optimizations

  • Revised controls for grappling hook and additional parkour moves
  • New module system (previously called Rune)
  • Improved jump movements
  • Improved sound effects for weapons
  • Updated UI and UX elements

Updated narration and prologue

  • New additional storyline
  • A mysterious new map (The Sterile Land)

New gameplay content

  • Eleven playable descendants and two ultimate descendants
  • Eleven new ultimate weapons, each with unique effects
  • Eight void intercept battle bosses
  • Two new void intercept battle maps
  • New cosmetic system
  • Improved world missions

New open beta rewards

  • Only available to Open Beta participants
  • All participants will receive a limited social motion
  • Players who reach level 20 will receive a back attachment customization item at launch
