Publisher Level Infinite and developer NExT Studios have announced that companion-based looter-shooter SYNCED will be released for PC this summer. It has been confirmed that the game will also be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with more information to follow shortly. SYNCED adds a whole new twist to intense PvE and PvP battles by allowing enemies to be turned into companions.
In SYNCED, a free-to-play sci-fi shooter, nanotechnology plays a central role in the near future. After a catastrophe known as the "Collapse", nanomachines turn against their creators. In this post-apocalyptic world, players:inside take on the role of Runners, a group of brave soldiers of fortune who scour the Meridian for the valuable nano-energy substance Nerva. They team up in teams of three players and engage in dynamic PvE and PvP combat.
Runners can connect (sync) with Prime Nanos to activate their nano companions. These nano companions can be used strategically against nano hordes and human opponents. Each Prime Nano class - Suppressor, Crusher, Guardian, and Seer - has its own abilities, allowing runners to customize the classes to their individual play styles. Runners can equip two nanos at once and switch between them.
In PvE mode, players explore abandoned wastelands, abandoned industrial buildings, dark caves and more in groups of three to take on nano hordes and powerful bosses. The goal is to gather resources and gradually bring the nano-infection in Meridian under control. In PvP mode, runners and nanos battle each other to collect the most Nerva before time runs out and the harvesters leave the map.
Similar to classic looter shooters, runners collect resources in PvE and PvP battles to develop their character and unlock powerful weapons and mods.
During successful open beta that ended in January, the NExT team had the opportunity to gather feedback from players and was able to make some improvements that contribute to a better overall gameplay experience.
These include:
- Solo mode - for those runners who want to explore the Meridian alone (safe for their Nano companions).
- Increased influence on nanos - additional nano mods that now provide access to more abilities, skills and tactics on the battlefield
- New Traversal Modes - when used correctly, Speed Dash, increased jumping ability and a hover-board can give players important advantages in battle
We will of course continue to keep you updated!
