New event launched: The art of strategy
04/21/2022 - World of Tanks is more than just pure steel and concentrated firepower - it`s about tactics and the right strategies. And this is exactly where World of Tanks is now shifting up a gear: Players can master the art of strategy in the new event from today until the beginning of May.
The event consists of two formats for Tier X vehicles: 1vs1 and 1vs7. In the 1vs1 format, two strategists fight for battlefield supremacy in the style of classic real-time strategy (RTS) games, each with seven available vehicles. In the 1v7 format, on the other hand, seven tank drivers compete against a single strategist and the vehicles controlled by the strategist. The 1v1 mode is available starting today, allowing players to familiarize themselves with the event and its intricacies before the 1v7 mode is released on April 25. And no matter which side a player lands on, strategist or tank driver, the path to victory is the same: destroy all enemy vehicles or capture the base.
The two roles are very different from each other: those with the strategist`s job command a squad of seven AI-controlled Tier X vehicles that operate independently, while the strategist issues orders accordingly. He can set routes for his vehicles and even observe the battlefield from a bird`s eye view. Unlike the tanks, the strategist has defenses at fixed positions that act as independent combat units. At any time during the games, the strategist can also take control of one of the seven vehicles in his squad and command them individually.
Both sides have only one minute before the battle to determine their tactics and prepare. These 60 seconds play a crucial role in the outcome of the match. Strategists can use this time to line up their vehicles and set up their defenses, while tank commanders assign roles that fit their vehicles and think about what their main routes should be. Players who participate in the Art of Strategy event will have access to two daily missions for both roles, for a total of four daily missions. By completing the daily missions, players can pick up rewards for the event, which include camouflage, lettering, badges and five unique, fully trained crew members, all with "Brothers in Arms" as a null perk and enough crew XP to immediately learn another skill of the player`s choice.
