Game description

Marvel Rivals is a team-based PvP shooter that immerses players in the dynamic world of the Marvel Universe. Developed by Marvel Games and NetEase Games, the game offers the opportunity to assemble an all-star team from a variety of superheroes and supervillains. Players can develop countless strategies by combining the unique abilities of their characters to create special team-up abilities.

The game features destructible and ever-changing battlefields set in iconic locations from the Marvel multiverse. From Asgard to the futuristic Tokyo of 2099, players can use the environment to their advantage by creating cover or obstacles for their opponents. These dynamic maps require constant adaptation and strategic thinking to succeed in fast-paced 6v6 combat.

At launch on December 6, 2024, players had 33 characters at their disposal, including well-known figures such as Spider-Man, Iron Man and Doctor Strange. Each character is assigned one of three roles: Duelist (DPS), Vanguard (Tank) and Strategist (Healer/Support). This distribution of roles allows players to form balanced teams and try out different play styles.

A special feature of Marvel Rivals are the team-up abilities. Combining the powers of different heroes creates unique synergies that can have a decisive influence on the course of a battle. For example, Rocket Raccoon can ride Groot to carry out devastating attacks, or the Hulk can use his gamma ray to charge Iron Man's suit to increase his firepower.

The game is designed as a free-to-play title, with all heroes unlocked from the start. Monetization is mainly done via cosmetic items such as skins, which can be purchased either individually, in packs or via a premium battle pass system called "Luxury Pass". However, there are also ways to unlock cosmetic items simply by playing the game. The Battle Passes are not time-limited; once purchased, they can be completed at your own pace.

Marvel Rivals supports cross-platform play and is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The developers have emphasized that there are no purchasable gameplay elements such as heroes or maps to ensure a fair gaming experience for all.

Marvel Rivals features a variety of game modes, including Point Conquest and Cargo Escort, allowing for dynamic and tactical 6v6 battles. The continuous development of the game with new heroes, maps and events ensures long-term motivation and variety.
