The game was originally conceived as a Minecraft modification transferring the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. into multiplayer mode, but has evolved into a standalone product over the years.

Game world and storyline:

Players spend most of their time in the open world of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, which is filled with various types of PvP and PvE activities. These include searching for artifacts, hunting mutants, exploring unknown locations, completing quests and participating in faction wars. The main story introduces the player to the zone and offers a captivating storyline with cutscenes and fully voiced dialog. In addition, there are numerous side quests that capture the atmosphere of the Stalker universe.

Gameplay and mechanics:

The game offers a unique blend of FPS and RPG. The weapon balance is more akin to session shooters such as Counter-Strike and Call of Duty, emphasizing quick reactions and shooting skills. Despite the MMO component, there is no traditional leveling system; progress is made by acquiring new equipment, which can be acquired in a variety of ways, including trading with other players.

New features and updates:

With the Day X update, STALCRAFT: X celebrated its tenth anniversary and brought with it a major overhaul of the game world. This update added a new, exciting northern storyline, personalized housing for players and a complete overhaul of the graphics and animation techniques, among other things. Players can now customize their own dwellings, craft useful items and trade them in-game.

PvP and open-world interactions:

In the open world of STALCRAFT: X, players can encounter other factions and engage in PvP combat at any time, except in small safe zones and quest dungeons.
